The Cove School Celebrates The Power of Possibilities

Each year The Cove School in Northbrook hosts an annual gala to raise needed dollars that support individualized education and life strategies for its students. The event will take place on Saturday, March 12, 2016 at The Loews Chicago O'Hare Hotel. This year's Benefit theme "The Power of Possibilities" was chosen to represent the belief that all students at Cove can flourish, where doors are always opening, and the learning possibilities are endless.

"We are so excited for this year's event," said Executive Director, Dr. Sally Sover. "Each year our attendance has grown and donations have increased. We are so grateful to our community for its support."

During the evening, benefit attendees will have the opportunity to bid on silent and live auction items. Live auction packages this year include golf, wine, and unique travel experiences, as well as tickets for Saturday Night Live! New this year will be a "Golden Paddle" raffle. One hundred $100 tickets will be sold for the evening. The winner of the raffle will receive a paddle valued at $5000 to be used to bid on ANY of the live auction packages. As always, the silent auction will have over 200 items that are bundled for competitive bidding excitement. Dinner, a paddle raise, and dancing to the sounds of "Standing Room Only" will also be part of the evening.

This year's live auction is being chaired by Howard and Betsy Ellen of Vernon Hills. Our corporate sponsorship efforts are headed up by Allan and Karen Grane of Elmhurst. Our silent auction chair is Debra Johnson of Barrington, and our alumni chair is Rebecca Blase of Northbrook. Finally, our YPC (Young Professionals for Cove) chair this year is Melissa Petritis of Chicago. All of these individuals have worked incredibly hard to bring in larger than ever donations for this year's event.

This year Cove will honor longstanding Board of Trustee member Donald J. Law of Park Ridge, with our annual Prism Award. For the past 12 years, Donald J. Law has served as a member of the Board of Trustees for The Cove School. He currently serves as Vice President of the board, is a member of the board's executive committee and has served as Chair of the committee on trustees for the past 11 years. Professionally, Mr. Law serves as the Managing Director of INDIE Equity, LLC.

With attendance that has exceeded 600, Cove looks forward to another successful event, and welcomes all community members to attend. To support Cove or get more information, go to our website at www.coveschool.org, or contact Stephanie Pritzker, Director of Development at spritzker@coveschool.org.

The Cove School provides highly individualized education and life strategies for children with learning disabilities. Cove, a K-12 school, was founded by pioneers in the field of learning disabilities in 1947. Cove provides children from diverse backgrounds with an individualized educational experience in a safe and respectful environment. Cove's dual purpose is to provide students with customized learning strategies to complete an academic curriculum, and facilitate the development of their social, emotional and self-advocacy skills. Cove's approach to learning creates an environment for students to build the self-confidence necessary to make a successful transition to their community schools, or to make post-secondary choices.
