Eastern Indiana college cancels classes to discuss diversity

RICHMOND, Ind. (AP) - Classes at an eastern Indiana college have been canceled for a day to discuss diversity after a group of students brought forward a list of concerns.

The Palladium-Item (http://pinews.co/1SZjXnF ) reports classes are canceled Thursday at Earlham College in Richmond. Brian Zimmerman, the liberal arts college's media relations director, says meetings will be held for students, staff and faculty to discuss campus diversity and inclusion. An all-campus meeting will complete the day's events.

Zimmerman says Earlham College administrators have been made aware that a group of students has concerns about diversity issues on campus. He says those concerns were circulated to the campus community Monday as a list of steps that the group of students believes will address their concerns.

The school did not release the students' list.
