CNN documentary recaps Gliniewicz case
Lee Filas, who led the Daily Herald's coverage of the suicide and investigation into Fox Lake police Lt. Joe Gliniewicz, appeared in a CNN documentary about the case that aired for the first time Tuesday night on the cable channel.

The documentary reviews how Gliniewicz was known for his commitment to the Fox Lake Explorers post and how what was first believed to be the shooting death of the lieutenant drew sympathy and launched a weeks-long manhunt. Then Lake County investigators determined the shooting death was a carefully staged suicide to cover up thefts from the Explorers post.
The documentary also reviews complaints against Gliniewicz throughout this career.
