Alena Quintet to give Valentine Day's concert at Cantigny
Cantigny Park's historic Robert R. McCormick Museum will host a free performance by the Alena Quintet, an ensemble of young artists who love sharing the gift of classical music with the community.
The concert begins at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 14, at 1S151 Winfield Road, Wheaton.
In honor of Valentine's Day, the quintet's Cantigny concert will feature several popular love songs from movies such as "The Lion King" and "Tangled," along with romantic movements from the Mozart and Brahms Clarinet-Quintets.
Named after the Greek word for light, Alena Quintet consists of a standard string quartet and clarinet. All five musicians are students at Metea Valley High School in Aurora, but the group itself is not affiliated with the school.
Concert tickets are free, but distribution is by lottery due to limited seating in the museum's Freedom Hall. Those wishing to attend should call (630) 260-8162 or email register@cantigny.org by Friday, Feb. 5. Emails should include a phone number. Cantigny will draw 40 names and contact winners by Wednesday, Feb. 10. There is a limit of two tickets per person. Parking is $5.
