Storm knocks out Saturday's Flyers-Islanders game

NEW YORK (AP) - The NHL has postponed Saturday's game between the New York Islanders and Philadelphia Flyers in Brooklyn because of the massive snowstorm hitting the East Coast.

The league did not announce a makeup date.

The NHL also postponed Sunday's game between the Washington Capitals and Pittsburgh Penguins. Washington's game on Friday against Anaheim had been moved up two hours before the league postponed it that day. Makeup dates have not been set for either of those games.

The worst of the blizzard was yet to come. According to the National Weather Service, strong winds and heavy snow were expected to produce "life-threatening blizzard conditions" throughout Saturday.
