Fox Lake OKs yearlong contract for interim police chief

Fox Lake village board members Tuesday approved a one-year term for interim Police Chief Russell Laine, who has served as top cop in both Bartlett and Algonquin. Laine, an Elgin resident, will receive $120,000 to head the department for the next year. Fox Lake Mayor Donny Schmidt says Laine will help the police department move forward. Full story.

Child struck by Pace bus

A child was airlifted from a Woodstock Wal-Mart parking lot Tuesday after being struck by a 13-passenger Pace bus around 3 p.m. The child, who authorities are not yet identifying, sustained critical life-threatening injuries, and was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. DuPage Drones to be Lisle's new baseball team

The DuPage Drones are coming to Lisle this summer to play baseball. Team owner Joshua Schaub unveiled the name of the new summer collegiate team that will play at Benedictine University Tuesday. Coroner identifies McHenry crash victim as Bartlett man

The McHenry County Coroner identified the man who was pronounced dead Monday following a McHenry collision as 25-year-old Bartlett resident Patrick M. Wixted. A 51-year-old McHenry woman was hospitalized in serious condition after the two-vehicle accident on Route 31. Full story.

Cyclist sustains severe injuries in Glendale Hts.

A Glen Ellyn man sustained severe injuries after he was struck by a Toyota van while riding his bicycle on the 600 block of North Avenue in Glendale Heights. The 29-year-old victim was taken to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove. Full story.
