Coroner identifies Bartlett man who died in McHenry collision

A 25-year-old Bartlett man, Patrick M. Wixted, was pronounced dead Monday evening and a 51-year-old McHenry woman was hospitalized in serious condition after a two-vehicle accident near Prairie Grove, the McHenry County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.

The preliminary investigation found that a 2002 Cadillac Deville driven by Wixted was traveling south on Route 31 at 6:11 p.m. when it overtook another vehicle traveling south, lost control and entered the northbound lane where it collided with a northbound 2003 Mercury Mountaineer, the release said.

Both drivers were taken to ambulance to Centegra Hospital in McHenry, where Wixted was pronounced dead. The driver of the Mercury was Colleen Dilone Victoriano, according to the news release.

Both drivers were wearing seat belts and the air bags in both vehicles deployed.

An autopsy shows Wixted died of blunt force injuries to his head and chest, and a toxicology report is pending, according to the McHenry County Coroner.

The McHenry County Sheriff's Accident Investigation Unit continues to investigate the circumstances of the crash.
