Glenbard presents 'New Science of Adolescence'

Parents often long to know what's going on inside teens' heads. This month, researcher Laurence Steinberg will tell them as part of the Glenbard Parent Series: Navigating Healthy Families.

In "Age of Opportunity: New Science of Adolescence," Steinberg, one of the world's leading researchers on adolescence, will provide important insights as he discusses concepts from his best-selling book "Age of Opportunity: The New Science of Adolescence."

Steinberg will discuss the links between brain development and decision-making and risk-taking in adolescence, the elongation of adolescence as a developmental stage, and the implications for how we parent, educate and understand young people.

The free event begins at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 26, at the College of DuPage's McAninch Arts Center, Fawell and Park boulevards, Glen Ellyn.

Steinberg also will speak at noon Wednesday, Jan. 27, at the Carol Stream Elementary District 93 administration center, 230 Covington Drive, Bloomingdale. He will present the "Essential Guide to Adolescence Ages 10 to 25: Teen Behavior Explained."

CPDUs are available for education professionals.
