McKnight to take over White Sox radio duties
While the Chicago White Sox have yet to name a replacement for veteran TV broadcaster Ken "Hawk" Harrelson, who is expected to cut back his schedule to road games only this season, they have a new pregame/postgame radio host.
The Sox are switching from WSCR AM-670 to WLS AM-890, and Connor McKnight is going to handle pregame/postgame duties om the station.
McKnight takes over for Chris Rongey, who was the White Sox' pre and postgame host on WSCR the past nine seasons.
McKnight currently talks sports on WGN AM-720, and he also has worked at WSCR, where he teamed with Daily Herald columnist Barry Rozner on the weekly "Hit and Run" baseball show in 2014, and the short-lived FM sports station "The Game."
SoxFest update:
Outfielders Melky Cabrera and Avisail Garcia, new catcher Dioner Navarro and pitchers Erik Johnson, Nate Jones, Zach Putnam, Dan Jennings and Daniel Webb have been added to the appearance list for SoxFest later this month.
The White Sox' annual winter gathering runs Jan. 29-31 at Hilton Chicago.
Former players Jose Contreras, Carl Everett, Willie Harris, Chet Lemon and Kirk McCaskill also are scheduled to attend.
Looking ahead:
With pitchers and catchers reporting to spring training Feb. 19 and the full squad checking in Feb. 23, the Sox have announced several promotional dates for the upcoming season.
The highlights are free T-shirt Thursdays and the Chris Sale K-Counter bobblehead, which will be given away on May 7.
