Radtke views on prep sports worth rerun

I enjoyed the Our View recently, but there is one resolution (our view) that deserves another printing. The view of John Radtke, assistant sports editor, is outstanding and great advice for so many parents of good high school athletes as well as the athletes themselves.

"My hope is that high school sports remains pure and innocent as possible. That street agents leave high school athletes alone. That high school athletes remember they are students first and foremost. And not fall into the trap of believing they will get a Division I scholarship. Some will, but most won't, and we hope they all realize the games they play should be, above all, fun."

With the above approach, high school sports can also be a vehicle for learning life skills which will be valuable forever and far more valuable than any D1 scholarship.
