Fundraising Dance program for Sewa International by Indian Dance School
Indian Dance School will perform "Kathak Bollywood" show on January 10, 2016 to raise funds for Sewa International. There will be two shows on January 10 at 1 p.m. and 5 p.m. at Prarie Center for the Arts, 201 Schaumburg Road, Schaumburg. The show will depict beautiful dances performed by more than 80 students of Indian Dance School. While telling about the program, Gauri Jog, Director and Choreographer of Indian Dance School said "This program will take you to down the memory lane to the old and new melodious Bollywood classical songs. Our challenge is to utilize the ancient art form of Kathak and present it in very innovative way to make it most appealing to younger generation and ever changing multi-cultural society of today. Another best thing about this show is all proceeds from these shows will go to change someone's life".
Some of the Classical, ever green, popular songs to which the group will be performing include Inhi Logon Ne, Ichak Dana Beechak Dana, Manava Lage, Albela, Ore Piya, Piya Bavri among many others. Kathak is a best compliment to Bollywood music and has gained immense popularity in recent years after blockbuster performances of Devdas, Jodha Akbar, Bajirao Mastani among many others. The program will also include very popular Bhangra and Lavni dance full of fun and energy. The show promises a visual treat for lay viewers and classical dance admirers.
Each dance presented will depict abhinaya, emotions, drama and unique choreography. In the past, Indian Dance School has staged sold out shows of many classical ballets including Jhansi Ki Rani, East Meets West, Fire - the Fiery Tale, Shakuntala, Krishna Leela, Kathak Yatra, Ramayana among others. The school has trained more than 1000 students, performed 350 professional dance shows in North America and India. The school has helped more than 65 charities to raise resources for their cause through dance shows.
