Pay more attention to local sex industry

The Chicago suburbs' sex trafficking problem seems to grow worse every year. It is easy for us to see trafficked workers as foreigners, or children taken by bad people, but that's not always the case, is it?

Sometimes, it's a neighbor, friend or classmate. Sometimes, there's no force needed, it's a matter of choice.

I would like to see more attention paid to the local sex industry. The fact that these women (and men) have chosen this as their profession does not mean they haven't been trafficked as well.

Abusive clients, manipulative pimps, drug habits, the list goes on. Where is their justice? Where are their shelters and government programs? Should we ignore their stories because their actions aren't yet legalized?
