Darling gets rare start against Avs
DENVER - Scott Darling knows the drill. Unless the Blackhawks are playing back-to-back games, he's probably not getting a start. And sometimes not even then - Crawford played three games in four days before the All-Star break.
"You just have to stay sharp and stay ready for when you finally get that call," Darling said.
That call finally came Thursday night, as Hawks coach Joel Quenneville decided to rest Crawford on his 31st birthday Thursday night and give Darling his first start since Dec. 10, and just his second start since Thanksgiving weekend.
"(Crawford has) played a lot, and we want to get [Darling] back in the net," Quenneville said. "It's a good opportunity for him to get going."
