Injuries end season for Bears' Jeffery and Goldman

The season is over for Bears Pro Bowl wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and rookie nose tackle Eddie Goldman, as both were placed on injured reserve Wednesday morning.

It was a fitting end to an injury-plagued season for Jeffery. He missed all four preseason games with a calf injury, four games (2-5) with a hamstring injury, Game 10 with groin and shoulder injuries and the final two games with another hamstring injury.

Jeffery is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March, and it remains to be seen how this season's spate of injuries affects his market value.

Goldman, a second-round pick from Florida State, suffered a high right ankle sprain in Week 15. He started 11 games and is fourth among all rookies with 4½ sacks.

The Bears now have 13 players on injured reserve, including tight end Martellus Bennett and wide receiver Marquess Wilson, along with safety Antrel Rolle and center Will Montgomery.
