Candidate should've announced conflict

I was pleased to see that the city of Wheaton removed its contract prosecutor, Michelle Moore, from prosecuting DuPage County Board member Grant Eckhoff's case in which he is accused of driving under the influence.

Good for the Ccty of Wheaton. But why did Ms. Moore, a candidate for the DuPage County Board, not recuse herself? She has been campaigning since August. Why didn't she recuse herself then?

State's Attorney Bob Berlin stepped up and noted the clear conflict of interest. Why did Ms. Moore not do the same?
