eBook tells West Chicago's railroad history

For the first time, West Chicago City Museum is publishing an enhanced eBook version of "A Brief History of an Old Railroad Town."

More than 30 years ago, local historians Frank F. Scobey and Gerald D. Musich compiled the overview of West Chicago's history from the arrival of the railroads in the mid-1800s up until the time of publication in 1984.

This history is now available as an eBook on the Friends of West Chicago City Museum website at www.wegohistory.com/ebook. Here, you can read Scobey and Musich's original words, accompanied by historic photographs and maps. Readers also will enjoy links to related content and other digitized books.

The eBook is being released chapter by chapter, with a new chapter being added each month. Chapters one through three are available now. Take advantage of the cold winter weather to do some reading and catch up on your local history.

West Chicago City Museum, 132 Main St. in West Chicago, can be contacted at (630) 231-3376 or museum@westchicago.org.
