Library's Finals Café Offering Extended Hours This Year
Attention high school students: This year, the Northbrook Public Library's annual Finals Café is better than ever. Finals Café, which runs from January 17-19, offers more available study space, as well as extended hours, to help students prep for their final exams.
"We've had Finals Café for many years, but it used to run for just an hour at a time. This year, we'll be offering Finals Café during all hours that the Library is open," said librarian Summer Kosuge. "Now that the Pollak Room has been renovated, we have a lot more study space to offer our teens during finals week."
During Finals Café, the Pollak Room will be transformed into a moderately quiet study space for high school students. Teens will have access to snacks and free pizza, as well as stress relieving activities like mandala drawings, to help them relax as they prep for their tests.
"The Library used to be packed during finals; any available space and any available outlet was taken," said Kosuge. "We think having the Pollak Room open all day for Finals Café will be a better experience."
High school students planning to study for their finals at the Library can come to the Pollak Room for Finals Café during the following times:
• Sunday, January 17: 1 - 4:30pm
* Free pizza offered from 3 - 4pm
• Monday, January 18: 9am - 8:30pm
• Free pizza offered from 3 - 4pm and 7 - 8pm
• Tuesday, January 19: 9am - 8:30pm
• Free pizza offered from 7 - 8 pm
"Academics are so important to this community," said Kosuge. "Finals Café is one time of the year that we're able to give our high school students the tools they need to succeed in school."
Students are allowed to bring their own snacks within reason. Fruit and chips will be available while supplies last.
