Pay attention to history, not beliefs

Judy Arenas Nov. 19 and Terry Spangler's Dec. 15 Letters to the Editor both have it wrong. This country was founded on "Separation of Church and State."

They came from Europe to free themselves of too much church/religious influence in government. Example, in England if you weren't a member of the Church of England, you were considered a second class citizen. The same goes for France, Spain and Italy, where the Catholic Church had an extreme amount of influence in those countries.

So let's pay attention to our true history, and not religious leanings.
