Chicago Blackhawks acquire Scuderi in trade with Penguins

The Chicago Blackhawks traded defenseman Trevor Daley to Pittsburgh on Monday for Penguins defenseman Rob Scuderi.

Scuderi is signed to a four-year, $13.5 million contract that runs through next season.

According to multiple reports, the Penguins will pick up a third of the 36-year-old Scuderi's contract, which carries a $3.375 million cap hit.

Scuderi won Stanley Cups with Pittsburgh in 2009 and Los Angeles in 2012. He is a 12-year veteran who can play on the penalty kill. The 6-foot-1, 212-pound New York native has just 8 career goals in 745 games.

Daley was acquired along with Ryan Garbutt in the trade that sent Patrick Sharp to Dallas in the off-season.

The 32-year-old seemed to be getting more comfortable in the Hawks' system of late, asserting himself more often in the Hawks' offensive zone.

Daley, who just returned from a neck injury, had no goals and 6 assists in 29 games.
