Local teen builds dog park as Eagle Scout project
Benjamin Dufresne, a Boy Scout from Troop 13 in St. Charles, designed and built a 150-foot diameter dog park at Poynor Park in Campton Township for his Eagle Scout project.
Dufresne's dog park includes 450 feet of split-rail fencing that Benjamin and his volunteers put up, along with three agility elements and two benches that were built and installed.
Benjamin also raised funds and solicited donations to help with building the park.
The dog park was built with help from volunteers at work days that Benjamin organized.
"The hardest part was fundraising since it was such an expensive project," according to Benjamin. He added that his favorite part was actually building the park and how many people came out to help.
Residents, and their pets, were enjoying the new dog park as soon as it was finished.
