Panthers DE Horton, WR Hill suspended by NFL

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - The NFL has announced that Carolina Panthers backup defensive end Wes Horton has been suspended without pay for the team's next four games for violating the NFL policy on performance-enhancing substances.

The league also announced injured wide receiver Stephen Hill has been suspended without pay for one game for violating the NFL's policy and program for substances of abuse.

The announcements were made Monday.

Horton's suspension begins immediately. He's eligible to return to the Panthers' active roster on Dec. 21. Horton was inactive for Carolina's 44-16 win against the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

Hill is on injured reserve and can serve the suspension immediately.
