Police investigating murder near West Chicago

The DuPage County sheriff's office is investigating the murder of a 27-year-old man at the intersection of Highlake and DuPage avenues just outside West Chicago.

Police received a call of a person lying on the side of the road at about 11 p.m. Friday. The man, whose name is still being withheld by authorities, was immediately taken to Central DuPage Hospital where he was pronounced dead.

The sheriff's office said the murder is believed to be an isolated incident, and the victim had been targeted.

Investigators are requesting that anyone in the area at the time who may have seen or heard anything call the sheriff's office at (630) 407-2400.
