NFL Alumni and W.A.C.O. Team Up for Toy Drive

Once again the Chicago Chapter of the NFL Alumni Association and Chicago's 5th Quarter Players Foundation will help the Woodfield Area Children's Organization collect toys this month. This year's Touchdown for Toys is set for 5-7:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 19 at Pop's Pizza and Sports Bar, 817 E. Nerge, Roselle.

Several former professional football, baseball, soccer and horse racing stars will be available for complementary autographs and pictures. There is no admission fee, instead everyone is asked to bring two unwrapped toys. Those who cannot make the event can drop off toys at Pop's prior to the event. W.A.C.O. will present the toys to the U.S. Marine Corps at W.A.C.O.'s 36th Annual Toys for Tots Dinner in early December.

A partial list of athletes scheduled to appear includes: former Chicago Bear and NFL-NFC Rookie of the Year Ronnie Bull, Chicago Sports Hall of Fame Jockey Eddie Arroyo, MLB All-Star Relief Pitcher Bill Campbell of the Minnesota Twins, Boston Red Sox and Chicago Cubs, and two-time Super Bowl winning wide receiver Gloster Richardson of the Kansas City Chiefs and Dallas Cowboys. European Soccer Hall of Famer and former Chicago Sting star Willy Roy is set to be there, along with National League All-Star and former Illinois State University Championship Pitcher Buzz Capra. Minnesota Twins and Chicago White Sox 3rd baseman and slugger Erik Soderholm, left-handed pitcher Rich Nye of the Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals and Montreal Expos and Gene Hiser who played outfield for both the Cubs and White Sox are scheduled to appear. Other former athletes are also expected to be there.
