Sale at Schaumburg church to benefit Haitian school
St. Peter Lutheran Church in Schaumburg will host the "Inspiring Hope for Haiti Sale" from Friday through Sunday to support a school that educates, equips and inspires young Haitian women toward personal development, economic independence, and the ability to lead the next generation.
The sale will offer many unique, high-quality handmade items, including handbags, scarves, headbands, doll clothing, aprons, dish towels, and table covers made by students at Centre Lumiere near Les Cayes. The school has more than 120 ladies working in their homes, raising their families and doing embroidery and crochet to support their families.
The director of the school, Olga Thissen, also will be visiting St. Peter over the weekend.
The sale will be held in the St. Peter narthex from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday.
