Chase-chasing Logano has early tire issue in Texas

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - Joey Logano had an early setback in Texas, a week after his championship hopes took a huge hit when he was intentionally wrecked by Matt Kenseth.

Logano had a left tire go down on the backstretch on the 10th lap Sunday. He had heavy damage on the left rear of the No. 22 Ford, even though he kept it off the wall after spinning.

After first going to his pit, Logano drove his car to the garage for more repairs. He said he had no indication the tire was going down.

"The left rear tire came apart and shredded everything inside the car," Logano said while out of the car during repairs in the garage. "It did a lot more damage than just the tire blowing apart."

When Logano got back on the track on lap 77, he was 64 laps behind race leader Brad Keselowski.

Logano started the race last among the eight drivers still in contention in the Chase for the Sprint Cup championship. He had won three consecutive races and was leading at Martinsville a week ago when he was wrecked by Kenseth, payback for an incident in an earlier race.
