Impeached for caring for cronies?
How many more hostages will fall prey to Governor Rauner's demands before an agreement is negotiated on the budget? Besides seniors, the disabled and low-wage workers being targeted, there is another hostage caught up in the battle between Rauner and speaker of the House, Mike Madigan.
My good friend is fighting cancer once again, She worked for 38 years in the public sector and has her secondary insurance in the hands of the state of Illinois. Due to the shutdown of state programs, payments for her care will not be paid. Her doctor will no longer treat her so she is now faced with having to travel 37 miles one way to Rush because they are still accepting her insurance. With winter approaching and the exhaustion following treatments, she will have to impose on friends or The American Cancer Society to get her to Chicago and back again.
Governor Rauner is not going to negotiate any deal unless he gets what he wants. His goal since taking office has been to destroy collective bargaining rights in Illinois through his Turnaround Agenda. I hope this isn't a question of importance between chemotherapy or collective bargaining.
A better question should be: can a governor be impeached for giving our tax money to his corporate cronies and nothing but hardship for the citizens of Illinois?
