Local VFW Auxiliary president speaks to Dundee Twp. Lions

Diane Ahrens, president of the Tri-City Evergreen Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2298 Auxiliary, gave a presentation to the Dundee Township Lions at their last club meeting.

Ahrens talked about activities at the West Dundee VFW and projects that they have undertaken. She and her husband - both retired Marines and owners of the Piece-A-Cake Bakery in East Dundee - send cookies and treats to the troops in the field every month.

She also encouraged the Dundee Township Lions and other community groups to become involved in helping homeless veterans by providing a starter kit of household items to support them when they are placed in housing. For information, call Diane at (224) 805-1220.
