Join Lake in the Hills for Veterans Memorial dedication Nov. 11

On Veterans Day, join Lake in the Hills Veterans Memorial Committee for the unveiling of the Veterans Memorial at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 11, at village hall, 600 Harvest Gate.

The ceremony will be 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Colors will be presented by the Lake in the Hills American Legion Post 1231 and the students of Lincoln Prairie Elementary School will be in attendance singing patriotic songs.

The dedication also will include a benediction, speakers from the Veterans Memorial Committee, Village President, a World War II Veteran, a tour of the new memorial, and more. Light refreshments will be provided for all attendees.

The Veterans Memorial project has been ongoing since the Village Board gave their support to the project in August of 2013. Groundbreaking took place on Veterans Day of November 2014. The project has received generous donations from numerous businesses, organizations, and individuals alike. Additionally, commemorative bricks for the plaza were available for purchase that could be engraved with a unique message to honor a Veteran, friend, family member, or organization in a lasting and memorable way. The Veterans Memorial Committee will continue to accept commemorative brick purchases until such a time that the memorial plaza is full. Bricks that were purchased before Sept. 1, 2015 will be installed in time for the dedication ceremony
