Schaumburg places third in Digital Cities Survey

The Village of Schaumburg recently announced it has placed third in the 2015 Digital Cities Survey for the second consecutive year. The rating is the highest the village has achieved overall since participating in the survey.

Top-ranked digital city and villages in this year's survey are using cloud services, data analytics and mobile apps - among other technologies - to help citizens interact with government more easily than ever before. These innovations are helping to increase transparency and open government, encourage citizen participation and enhance cybersecurity.

"We're pleased to have maintained this achievement for the second year in a row," said Director of Information Technology Peter Schaak. "This award inspires our village to continually look for ways in which we can improve our technology services so that we can provide a better user experience for the public."

Open to all U.S. cities, this year's survey questions targeted which initiatives cities were most proud of in the areas of citizen engagement, policy, operations, and technology and data. The village ranked third in cities ranked with a population of 74,999 or less.

"I commend the village's Information Technology Department for always setting the bar high every year," said Village President Al Larson.

"Technology is so critical to everything we do here in Schaumburg. It's important we look ahead to develop innovative practices and models that allow us to serve the public in the best way possible."

The top 10 ranked cities will be honored at a special awards ceremony during the National League of Cities' annual conference held Nov. 4-7 in Nashville, Tennessee.
