Nominations wanted for Shining Star Awards

Each year, the Mount Prospect Special Events Commission honors individuals and organizations that help make the community a great place in which to live and work.

The commission celebrates them as Shining Stars and recognize them at a gala banquet. The 23rd annual Celestial Celebration will be Friday, Feb. 5, at The Cotillion Banquets in Palatine.

The Shining Star Awards are presented on the basis of nomination by community leaders; business people; residents; and men and women who work in Mount Prospect.

Below is a link to the award categories. The categories cover a range of interest areas and are designed especially to seek out individuals who do things that often go unnoticed. If the person you are thinking of doesn't fit one of the categories, the last category can be whatever you think it should be.

Refer to the website www.mountprospect.org for a detailed list of categories and previous winners.

Review the list and criteria used to determine the winners and submit your nomination(s). You may also submit your nomination(s) electronically via the village website, www.mountprospect.org. Simply follow the "Shining Stars Awards" link on the homepage.

A selection committee representing a cross-section of the village reviews the nominations and determines the ultimate award winners. The winners are selected in early December and will be announced shortly thereafter.

Nominations must be in writing and received no later than midnight Nov. 15.

The Mount Prospect Special Events Commission asks for your help and cooperation in this civic endeavor.
