Real Urban Barbecue Celebrates Thanksgiving With Traditional Carryout Menu

This season, Real Urban Barbecue is making your holiday stress-free by preparing the Thanksgiving spread for you with a convenient traditional carryout menu available for "heat and eat" pickup on Wednesday, November 25 and "hot and ready to serve" on Thursday, November 26 at any of their three locations in Downtown Highland Park (610 Central Ave #177), Vernon Hills (1260 S. Milwaukee Ave) and at their newest location in Oak Brook (2119 Clearwater Drive).

You can build your own Thanksgiving menu from the following tasty selections: Whole Fresh Hickory Smoked Amish Turkey stuffed with fresh herbs and citrus, $69 (averages 12-16 lbs, includes 1 quart of homemade turkey gravy); 14-Hour Smoked and Sliced Brisket, $16/lb. (includes au jus); Whole Smoked Boneless Turkey Breast, $13/lb. (averages 3 lbs); Sliced Smoked Turkey Breast, $13/lb.; or a Half Pan Sliced Smoked Ham with stone ground mustard glaze, $49.

Add the finishing touches for your main course with: Pumpkin BBQ Sauce, $4.95/pint; Turkey Gravy, $4.95/pint; Real Urban BBQ Sauces, Original, Texas, Piedmont or M-Q, $4.95/pint.

Tasty greens to add to your plate include: The NEW! Autumn Salad- Chopped Romaine lettuce, apples, pears, roasted walnuts, goat cheese, raisins & white balsamic dressing, $30 half pan | $60 full pan; Dinner Salad- Garden blend lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots with your choice of dressing, $17 half pan | $34 full pan.

Traditional side dishes to pile on your plate include: Golden Corn Bake, $30 half pan | $60 full pan; Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, $30 half pan | $60 full pan; Grilled Mixed Vegetables, $30 half pan | $60 full pan; Flame Roasted Fuji Apples, $38 half pan | $76 full pan; Sweet Potato Soufflé with nuts & marshmallows, $40 half pan | $80 full pan; Classic Creamed Spinach, $40 half pan, $80 full pan; Roasted Brussels Sprouts with maple glaze & bacon, $40 half pan | $80 full pan; Homestyle Mac-n-Cheese, $38 half pan | $76 full pan.

Can't decide what to order? Opt for the Thanksgiving Day Package back by popular demand. The package includes: One Whole, Fresh Hickory Smoked Amish Turkey, a half pan of your choice of vegetables: choose from Creamed Spinach, Brussels Sprouts or Mixed Grilled Vegetables, a half pan of Yukon Gold Mashed Potatoes, a half pan Dinner Salad with assorted dressings, one dozen Homemade Buttermilk Biscuits with honey butter, and one Deep Dish Dutch Apple, Pecan or Pumpkin Pie. Note: The Thanksgiving Day Package is $160 (feeds 10-12). No substitutions can be made with this package.

Serving sizes are as follows: 1 quart side dish feeds 6 people, 1 pint serves 2-3 people, Half pan feeds 12-14 people, and a Full pan feeds 24-26 people.

The Early Bird Gets the Bird

Beginning Monday, November 9, call Real Urban Barbecue's Turkey Hotline at 847-861-1190 to place your order. A Thanksgiving Day Specialist will be available Monday - Friday from Noon to 8 p.m. Orders can also be left on the voicemail and a Real Urban BBQ representative will return your call to confirm the order. All locations will be open regular business hours on Wednesday, November 26 for "Heat and Eat" carryout order pick up. Beat the crowds and save time! Pick up your order and keep refrigerated until you're ready to serve. All locations will be open from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day for "Hot and Ready to Serve" carryout order pick up.

Prices are subject to change. Real Urban Barbecue may not be able to accommodate orders or changes made less than 48 hours in advance of pick up. Orders that are not picked up will be charged 50 percent of the total bill.
