Serving veterans focus of Schaumburg Business Association's monthly breakfast
With the nation taking time to celebrate its veterans this week, it was fitting that the special guests at Tuesday's Good Morning Schaumburg breakfast hosted by the Schaumburg Business Association were a couple who've dedicated the last decade of their lives to helping veterans and active members of the military.
Roy and Georgette Frank told business leaders about the ongoing efforts of their The Heart of a Marine Foundation, which provides support, financial assistance and educational resources to service members. Its projects include providing orthopedic canes to veterans who need them, clothing to wounded and homeless veterans, and educational scholarships to deserving veterans.
The organization also has sent an estimated 5,000 care packages to military personnel serving in Afghanistan and other overseas locations.
The Elk Grove Village couple founded the organization in memory of their son, Marine Lance Cpl. Phillip Frank, who was killed in action in 2004 in Iraq.
