Jaycees food collection benefits Township Pantry

The Hoffman Estates Jaycees hosted a canned food drive in front of Valli Produce in Hoffman Estates on October 24, 2015 to take part in Make A Difference Day. Through Make A Difference Day, The Hoffman Estates Jaycees joined hundreds of other organizations around the country that are engaging their community in service.

Make A Difference Day, the largest national day of community service, has been celebrated for more than two decades annually on the fourth Saturday in October. The annual event is sponsored by USA TODAY and Points of Light.

During the event, Jaycee members asked shoppers to purchase an extra item for the food pantry and drop their donation off on their way out. The collected donations filled 8 full carts which was delivered to the Schaumburg Township Food Pantry.

Schaumburg Township residents can schedule an appointment to pickup two paper bags of food by calling (847) 884-0030, ext. 1013. The pantry serves over 600 families each month.

" The Hoffman Estates Jaycees have participated in Make A Difference Day for the last 15 years, said Keith Colgrove," Hoffman Estates Jaycees President. "The project empowers residents to make a difference in their community with a simple gesture."
