Fox Lake hydrant flushing
The village of Fox Lake will flush fire hydrants on the north water system from Oct. 26 through Nov. 6. The purpose of the flushing is to make sure fire hydrants are in good working order in case of emergencies, and to remove sediment from the distribution system. Signs will be posted in each area before hydrant flushing begins each day. The work will take place between 7:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. Residents are urged to not do laundry on the day hydrants are flushed in the area. Hydrant flushing stirs up rust, which can discolor laundry. Residents are urged to run the water for a few minutes after a hydrant flushing, should any water discoloring take place. Anyone with questions is urged to contact the Fox Lake Sewer and Water Department at (847) 587-3506 between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Residents can also email department supervisor Rocky Horvath at horvathr@foxlake.org.
