An 86-year-old Bensenville women was struck and killed Friday morning by a hit-and-run driver as she walked in front of a drive-through restaurant.

Bensenville police Chief Frank Kosman said Modesta De La Rosa was walking on the sidewalk in front of 1004 W. Irving Park Road around 7:30 a.m. when the driver of a gray, extended-cab Ford pickup truck pulled out and turned right, striking her.

"The driver went from a complete stop, accelerated, turned right, hit her and never slowed down," Kosman said.

De La Rosa was pronounced dead at Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village.

Kosman said several witnesses were able to provide police with a description of the truck. He said police also are attempting to get security camera footage from the surrounding area.
