Bollywood Masala Orchestra like a trip to India

The Schaumburg Prairie Center for the Arts will host the Bollywood Masala Orchestra and Dancers of India as they present the "Spirit of India" at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25.

The show is a new way of presenting live Indian music and dance. Under the artistic vision of Rahis Bharti, one of India's greatest musical figures, the company invites you on a musical journey from Rajasthan to Mumbai.

The company of 17 performers provides a feast of music and dance with a mix of Indian and Western instruments such as bass drums, side drums, trombone, tabla, dholak, harmonium and clarinet.

The program will be an eclectic mix of popular Bollywood hits alongside traditional works. Pieces include "Dhoom Taana" from the 2007 film Om Shanti Om, "Dil Na Diya" from the 2006 film Krrish, "Khwaja Mere Khwaja" from Jodhaa Akbar, traditional Rajasthani song "Nimbooda," Rajasthan creation song "Begha Ghara Ayo Sajan" and others.

Tickets are $40-$42. Order them online at www.prairiecenter.org or at (847) 895-3600. The Prairie Center is at 201 Schaumburg Court, Schaumburg.
