Blackhawks release winger Knott, no update on Kruger
The Blackhawks released winger Graham Knott, their second-round draft pick this year, from training camp Thursday. He played for just under 14 minutes during the Hawks' 4-1 preseason loss Wednesday in Detroit.
He returns to Niagara of the Ontario Hockey League.
• The Hawks, who were off Thursday, had no update on Marcus Kruger.
The 25-year-forward has had visa issues since signing his one-year contract just before camp began. On Tuesday, coach Joel Quenneville was hopeful that Kruger could play in Friday's preseason game at Montreal.
