Landmark win for Loika, Libertyville

Greg Loika captured his 200th win as Libertyville's girls volleyball coach, as the Wildcats defeated host Lake Forest 25-18, 26-24 in North Suburban Lake Division action Monday night.

Behind stellar defensive efforts from Morgan OBrien (31 digs), Ashley Kroc (8 digs) and Erin Dunleavy (8 digs), Libertyville (16-5, 2-0) clawed back from an 8-1 deficit in the first set to pull ahead for good at 11-10. In Set 2, down 22-20, the Wildcats won consecutive long rallies to tie the match.

Hannah Zerwas had 10 kills, including the match-winner. Allison Watson and Haley Watson added 7 and 6 kills, respectively, and Anna Lillydahl chipped in 23 assists.

Grant d. Grayslake North: The host Bulldogs won the nonconference match 25-17, 25-23, as Kylie Mueller slammed 6 kills and Kate Kiser distributed 20 assists.

Megan Gebauer added 4 kills for Grant, while Carlee Holland was 5-of-5 serving with 2 aces. Ally Latta served 7 of 7, and Kelli Varney was 8 of 9. Varney and Megan Whitman had 5 and 4 digs, respectively.

Deerfield d. Mundelein: The Mustangs dropped a 25-22, 25-12 decision in nonconference action, despite Sidney Brunkow's 9 digs and 2 kills.
