Schaumburg business community focuses on counseling
Members of the Illinois Counseling Association Foundation spoke to the Schaumburg Business Association Tuesday about meeting the challenge of providing social programs for youth and families when government funds are in short supply.
Since the foundation was established 10 years ago, it has distributed more than $107,000 to Illinois Counseling Association members. The group was founded to promote the development of professional counselors, advance the counseling profession, and use the profession and practice of counseling to promote respect for human dignity and diversity, according to its mission statement.
By funding professional development, research and social programs, foundation members say they are able to make a significant impact on the availability of trained, professional counselors.
