Dogs help raise money for cancer
Canines will help raise money for cancer research and services at Bark for Life of DuPage this weekend at the Forest Preserve District of DuPage County headquarters in Wheaton.
The event - including a fundraising walk, giveaways and prizes, vendors, and music - will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, Sept. 12, at 3S580 Naperville Road, Wheaton.
Sponsored by Camp Bow Wow, a doggy day and overnight camp franchise, and the American Cancer Society, Bark for Life honors canine caregivers and companions that serve as guide dogs, service dogs and rescue dogs, and raises funds that go to cancer research, housing and other aid services for cancer patients and recovery volunteer programs.
Individuals can create their own relay ream, join an existing team or register as an individual walker. The walk will be followed by demonstrations, contests and games. Refreshments will be available.
Registration is $20 for one owner and dog in advance, $30 the day of the event.
