Fling fun begins for 50th year in Naperville
The Last Fling in Naperville opened its gates to the first visitors of its 50th year Friday evening.
But Friday offered just the first tastes, tunes and thrills of the four-day festival in the city's downtown, hosted by the Naperville Jaycees as a fundraiser for charities.
The annual end-of-summer celebration continues from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday.
Saturday highlights include an 8 p.m. concert by Daughtry, several quirky contests and races and the Ashley Whippet dog disc-catching invitational.
Sunday's activities include a meet-and-greet with Disney Channel actor Calum Worthy of "Austin and Ally" and concerts beginning at 4 p.m. by Lucky Boys Confusion, Finger Eleven and Chevelle.
The festival concludes Monday with the Fling Mile, Rooster 5K and Labor Day parade in the morning, followed by a day of tribute bands covering decades of popular music on the main stage.
