Wauconda chamber to host 'Street Dance'
Shimmy and sashay the night away at Wauconda's 16th annual "Street Dance" from 3 to 11 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5, on Main Street in downtown Wauconda.
People of all ages can dance to music from a lineup of 10 bands on four stages. Local vendors will provide food and drinks. There will also be activities for children such as a moon bounce.
"It's an appreciation event," said Laura Ferris, executive director at the Wauconda Area Chamber of Commerce. "It's our annual way to give back to the community."
Leading up to the day of dancing, local businesses will be collecting food to donate to the Wauconda/Island Lake Food Pantry.
Food drop-off locations include the Wauconda Community Bank, Vintage Art and Findings, Sharp Auto and more.
"Last year we had a hay wagon going around and collecting the food," Ferris said. "We made a parade out of it. It was a generous donation."
Along with music, food, and games, there will be water fights. The Wauconda Fire District will hold its second annual round of water fights at 3 p.m.
This year's entertainment lineup features the bands Better With Bacon, Jazz Du Jour and more.
There will also be several high school bands, such as In Lawnois, performing at the Teen Stage.
