Girls volleyball: Hersey picks up first victory

Hersey's girls volleyball team earned its first win of the young season on Wednesday night when it posted a 25-20 23-25, 25-19 over Hinsdale Central at the Carter Gymnasium in Arlington Heights.

Senior Liz Fuerst put down a team-high 11 kills and sophonore Amy Morgan added 10 to lead the Huskies' offense set by Maggie Reisel (34 assists).

It was the 867th career win for veteran coach Nancy Lill, who has been the head coach at Hersey for 28 years and three at Wheeling.

Emma Frankiewicz collected 19 digs and Morgan had 17 for the defending Mid-Suburban League champs.
