Arson suspected in Lincolnshire fire
Lincolnshire police said arson is suspected in a Sunday morning fire at a single-family home in the 0-10 block of Cambridge Lane.
Lincolnshire police Sgt. Kim Covelli said that around 6:30 a.m., police received a phone call regarding a possible arson.
She said police then went to the home.
Arson was indicated following a preliminary investigation.
"It didn't seem like a usual fire," Covelli said. "When the fire marshal came out, the dog that they had did hit on certain areas in the home. The fire marshal then tested those areas, and there is preliminary evidence to suggest that there was an incendiary device used to start a fire in the residence."
She said Lincolnshire police are working with the Lincolnshire Fire Department and the state fire marshal to investigate.
Covelli said the home was not occupied at the time of the fire. The house is now boarded up and uninhabitable.
There were no injuries, she said.
There is not yet an estimate for damages.
