Bartlett police to increase seat belt and DUI enforcement

The Bartlett Police Department will have an increased number of officers checking for seat belt violations and motorists driving under the influence in the two weeks leading up to Labor Day.

The Illinois Department of Transportation awarded Bartlett funding for 20 additional patrol hours to enforce seat belt laws and 40 additional hours to conduct DUI patrols from Aug. 24 through Sept. 7. Because the department does not conduct roadside safety stops, the initiative will place additional officers on the street to look for seat belt infractions and motorists who may be driving under the influence.

The Labor Day Seat Belt and DUI Enforcement Campaign is a statewide initiative, and is fully funded by IDOT's Division of Traffic Safety.
