Evansville blanks Schaumburg Boomers

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Schaumburg Boomers suffered a 5-0 shutout loss to the Evansville Otters in the finale of a weekend road series on Sunday.

Evansville limited the Schaumburg bats to just 4 hits behind starter Brett Marshall, a former big leaguer. Marshall worked eight shutout innings. The Boomers loaded the bases in the first but could not score. The Otters scored 2 runs in the fifth and added 3 in the sixth against Schaumburg starter Taylor Thurber, who suffered the loss. Thurber worked six innings , striking out four. Clark Labitan and Lance Phillips worked perfect innings to close the contest.
