Boomers lose 4-1 to Evansville

EVANSVILLE, Ind. - The Schaumburg Boomers dropped a 4-1 decision to the Evansville Otters on the road Saturday night.

The contest was dominated by pitching as Raul Jacobson battled with Evansville starter Blaine Howell. Evansville took the lead with a single run in the fourth before a double from Kyle Ruchim tied the game in the fifth. Evansville was able to re-take the lead with a two-out run in the seventh added two in the eighth for the win.

Jacobson threw seven innings, his fifth consecutive start of at least seven innings of work, but suffered the hard luck defeat. Jacobson struck out five while allowing just two runs on seven hits. The Boomers managed just four hits, with two coming from Ruchim.

The Boomers (32-45) concludes the brief weekend road series on Sunday night at 5:05 p.m. RHP Taylor Thurber (1-2, 4.33) is slated to start for Schaumburg against former big leaguer RHP Brett Marshall (2-1, 2.89).
