Wego Drama to present 'Almost, Maine'

WeGo Drama at West Chicago Community High School starts its 2015-16 season with the romantic comedy "Almost, Maine" as the Student Directors Showcase production.

By John Cariani, the play is about love and loss in the town of Almost, Maine.

Performances are at 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 20, and Saturday, Aug. 22, in Weyrauch Auditorium (Entrance F) at West Chicago Community High School, 326 Joliet St., West Chicago.

The show is a significant event for the students of WeGo Drama as they get to create and discover new characters on stage in an attempt to fulfill the season motto of "Character Counts."

"This is an amazing show to direct, with characters that are lovably romantic and cheesy," student director Arielle Duerr said.

Student director Robert Bradley added, "This directing experience is so exciting and everyone involved is going above and beyond what was expected."

"This show is bound to make audiences burst out in laughter. It is definitely not one to miss," performer Maxwell Smith said.

The cast features Kenneth Correa, Dylan Davidson and Rick Gieser from Carol Stream; Robert Bradley, Drew Brady, Ethan Cuka, Arielle Duerr, Dylan Falletta, Megan Graal, Grace McLean, Evy McLean, Nayelie Miguel, Emily Roldan, Maxwell Smith and Katie Steininger from West Chicago; and Maggie Clancy, Jack Gillespie, Mady Simanonis, Connor Thompson, Joy Vogt and Danny Weber from Winfield.
