Capannari's Debuts Chocolate Bourbon Ice Cream

Capannari Ice Cream, known for their unique, creative and gourmet ice cream, debuted some special flavors to try this month. They are only available for a limited time.

Pappy's Chocolate Bourbon with Smoked Pecans - Chef Jim Capannari traveled to Lexington, KY this past winter to attend the National Ice Cream Retailers Association conference. While there, Jim (a bourbon lover) toured several bourbon distilleries in the area and was inspired to create this new flavor.

Goat Cheese Cherry Bordeaux - New and Improved Recipe - A fan favorite, this flavor blends the creaminess of goat cheese with the tangy and sweet taste of cherries - the result is luscious.

Another favorite currently in is Dulce de Leche, rich and creamy with a smooth caramel flavor. Other upcoming flavors include: Malted Butter Fudge, Pistachio and our award winning 10-Year Aged Vanilla.

Capannari Ice Cream has received numerous accolades and awards for their product from publications and like Bon Appetit, Saveur and Visa Black Card. They have also been honored as Chicago's Best, U.S. Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year Regional Finalist, and finalist for Loyola Family Business Center Illinois Family Business of the Year Awards for the Community Service Award.

Capannari Ice Cream is a purveyor of high quality, super premium, homemade small batch ice cream, produced on site at their retail location, located in the historic Moehling General Store Building at 10 S. Pine Street in Mt. Prospect, Illinois. The family business, which opened its doors in 2001, is owned and operated by sisters Katie Dolan Dix and Meg Capannari and their husbands Ken Dix and Jim Capannari. The idea for the business stemmed from the owners realization that there was no destination for families in Mount Prospect, the community where they lived and grew up.

In addition to the retail shop, Capannari's offers buy online packages through FoodyDirect at capannaris.foodydirect.com, as well as catering for parties from 20 to 2,000. More information can be found at www.capannaris.com or by calling 847/392-2277.
