CASA Kane County gets $4,000 grant from Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley

CASA Kane County, a local nonprofit organization that advocates for the best interests of abused and neglected children, was recently awarded a $4,000 grant from the Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley to purchase a new staff workstation that will be used in the expanded area of its office at the historic courthouse in Geneva.

CASA Kane County has already served 532 children thus far in 2015, compared to 479 in the same time period of last year.

To ensure the needs of the trained court-appointed special advocate/guardian ad litem volunteers were met for 100 percent of children, the organization needed to hire additional staff and expand its office space.

The Community Foundation of the Fox River Valley and CASA Kane County share a partnership on many levels. Not only has the foundation supported CASA over the years through grants and special requests, the CASA Kane County endowment fund also resides with them.

Gloria Bunce, CASA Kane County executive director, states, "We are so thankful for the support of the Community Foundation - the need was especially great this year, as we hired an additional Advocate Supervisor and trained twice the number of new volunteers to support the CASA/GAL's on the cases for our additional children."
